My first Catamaran was a 12 foot boat built by my father in Nigeria from Australian drawn plans and sailed in the Thames estuary- it would hold a Hornet on a reach and beat well but down wind it was slow running. It was a real rough water boat and sent up massive pair of rooster tales at speed. As can be seen it had a solid aerofoil into which the jib was slotted.
